Charter for Dreamtime guild (Server: Khyber)
-------------
Mission Statement:
Dreamtime is an Offpeaker’s Guild, primarily dedicated to catering to players of
DDO who wish to Role-Play (RP) and who live in +8 to +12 timezones. Membership,
however, is open to all who wish to join the guild no matter what country or
timezone you hail from.
It is the guild’s purpose to bring together players who share common interests,
including an enjoyment of DnD PnP and DDO, so that they can better enjoy DDO
with a vibrant and active community of players.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Guild Charter:
The Guild Charter is considered to be necessary knowledge for all members of the
guild. Reading, understanding and honouring the Charter in its entirety is an
ongoing requirement for membership.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Code of Conduct:
Every member of the Guild is a representative of Dreamtime. It is expected that
Guild members will, at all times, behave in a manner that best reflects the
values of Dreamtime as laid out in the Guild Charter.
Have Fun:
First and foremost, DDO is a game, a leisure activity. Enjoy it.
Act With Honour:
- Do not exploit bugs, use bots, buy gold and items from external sites (such as
EBay) or otherwise cheat.
- Do not attempt to swindle or cheat fellow players or guild mates, unless it is
within a defined RP context.
- Do not beg for coin or items from guild mates or other players. If you have
dire need of something, ask once and ask politely.
- Do not spam open channels, flame and insult other players or act in any way
that adversely affects the play experience of others or would bring dishonour
upon the Guild.
Contribute:
Make an active contribution to the guild, through participation in the forums,
questing, trading and the representation of Dreamtime to non-guild members.
Respect:
- Respect your fellow guild members. Be generous to your guild mates and help
them when and where you can.
- Respect your guild leaders and guild officers. They’re doing the best they can
to help make the game an even better experience for you.
- Respect all others playing in the world. They are there to have fun just as
much as you.
Roleplay:
While Dreamtime is an RP guild, it is understood that players may wish to
participate in different levels of RP. As a guild, it is believed that enforcing
players to continually be in character should not overtake the enjoyment the
game. As such, RP (to the best of the players’ ability) shall only be enforced
in party chat and while on a quest. You are free to RP within other channels if
you wish, of course.
In keeping with its RP nature, the Guild shall enforce a naming policy.
Characters with non-Medieval/Fantasy character names (i.e. Slipnslide, Robotman,
TehLOLtz) and/or names of (in)famous literary, historical and game-world figures
(i.e. Conan, Napoleon, Raistlin) will be rejected.
Take Your Time:
DDO is not a race to the finish. If you’ve already run through a dungeon once
but other members of your party have not, do not rush ahead, push the other
players forward or spoil the upcoming content for them (unless otherwise
requested). And remember, if you’re in a new and unfamiliar area: let the rogue
go first!
Voice Chat:
Voice Chat software is in use by the Guild. It is an optional method of
communication. Treat it as you would normal chat.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Membership Policy, Requirements and Levels:
Membership of Dreamtime is open to everyone and is unrestricted by character
classes/race/levels, though potential new members will be looked upon more
favourably if they have an in-guild sponsor. All members must read and indicate
that they both agree to the Charter and understand that violation of the terms
set out therein may result in their expulsion from the Guild. While guild
members are expected to act with maturity, there is no age restriction on guild
membership.
There are presently five tiers of Guild membership. All new members will start
out at the level of Apprentice, and may graduate to the level of Member at a
later date, indicating that they are in good standing with the Guild.
Guild Officers are members who are dedicated to helping out other players and
ensuring that the day-to-day running of the Guild goes smoothly. They have the
ability to vote on issues, perform some administrative functions (such as
approving membership) and are tasked with representing the guild as a whole.
The position of Special Interest Officer will be appointed at need to a member
who takes on a special game related responsibility that has real value, such as
organising a large in-game event for all Guild members. A Special Interest
Officer may also be appointed to represent a segment of the membership (i.e.
Bards or Dwarfs) to Guild Officers.
The Guild Master has the same basic function as a Guild Officer/Special Interest
Officer in liaising with the players and ensuring that their needs are met.
However, The Guild Master is also the final arbitrator on complex issues and
their approval must be given to appointment of anyone to the rank of Guild
Officer. The Guild Master does not vote on issues save to alleviate a tie.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Contact details/Applying for membership:
The Guild Master can be PM’ed on the Offpeakers website forum under the username
zerochosen, or contacted via email at zerochosen@yahoo.com.
Members of the guild should PM Bazag to receive access to the Dreamtime section
on the Offpeakers forum.
To apply for membership, contact a Guild Officer or the Guild Master. A brief
character description/character background may be requested before admission.
